Establishment of the Centre for Bioresources and Sustainable Development in Arunachal Pradesh as a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in 2018 at Kimin is the culmination of a long-cherished vision of Arunachal Pradesh State Council for Science & Technology (APSCS&T), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, Itanagar. The Centre of Excellence since its inception has been making efforts towards developing sustainable process development of bioresources through biotechnological interventions and research for product development and its value addition. The CoE strives in becoming a beacon for developing practices towards conservation, sustainable development of the ample bioresources available and as well advancing the age-old symbiotic relationship between the local populace of Arunachal Pradesh through biotechnological interventions.

This Centre of Excellence established with the profuse financial support of Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India and Government of Arunachal Pradesh has been and shall strive towards promotion and strengthening of R&D activities on bioresources through interventions of modern biotechnological tools in Arunachal Pradesh.

I am very much glad and hopeful that this biotechnology centric R&D facility in the form of Centre of Excellence for Bioresources and Sustainable Development (DBT-APSCS&T CoE for BRSD) that have come up provides ample potential towards propelling Arunachal Pradesh as an emerging player by leveraging biological resources for economic growth and promoting sustainable development. The DBT-APSCS&T CoE for BRSD envisions aligning with the recently adopted BioE3 (Biotechnology for Economy, Environment and Employment) policy framework to work towards promoting sustainable development of the rich bioresources of Arunachal Pradesh through the integration of bioeconomy principles and the rich Traditional Knowledge System (TKS) to contribute for enhanced quality of life for local communities.

The linkages developed, established by the CoE with various prominent National and International institutions during these years of its existence are going to strengthen the collaborative R&D activities being, to be carried in the days ahead.
